The bitter melon is culturally revered for its ability to thrive in harsh conditions. They are a symbol for my Hakka Chinese lineage where my people have undergone centuries of forced displacement. This deeply personal sculptural piece explores the temporal states and ancestral resilience associated with the living and the deceased.
The assortment of specimens are symbols of souls that have passed and reflect the cyclical nature rooted within transmigration.
